Alan is married with three children and has lived in Bangor for 45 years. He has 14 years experience on Council, representing N Down and been a member of the DUP since 1980. He has represented Bangor West since 2005. A former Mayor, he is currently Chairman of both the Environment and Amenities and Leisure and Tourism Committee, and is a former Chair of Waste Management, and the Disabilities Working Group.
He is a keen supporter of recycling, and welcomes the Council achieving its targets on waste. A keen supporter of community funding and development, he is delighted to see the progress on playground provision in Bangor West. He has a strong interest in sports, youth issues and church activities, and is a Sunday school teacher. He manages the Action Cancer shop in Bangor.
