"I was shocked and distressed to hear of the dreadful road accident today in Groomsport. It is particularly disturbing that it is a 10 year old boy who is left in a critical. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this crucial time, and I am sure that everyone will be praying for a swift and full recovery. The terrible events tonight are a sad reminder of how vulnerable we all are on the roads, particularly children, and particularly at this time of the year when road conditions are poor through darkness and ice. I urge everyone to be vigilant on road safety, so that no other tragedies, like today are inflicted on other families."
