DUP Councillor Alex Easton MLA today wished the residents of North Down a happy Christmas and a happy new year.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in North Down a happy Christmas and a happy new year! This year has been a tough year with the down turn in the economy and the harsh reality of the worst recession in the history of the United Kingdom. It is at times like this that it is important for everyone to work together especially those in government to ensure that as much help to turn the economy around and help to make a better place for all to live in Northern Ireland. Much has been done despite those who would say the Northern Ireland Assembly does not do much for the people with the Regional Rates frozen for three years, and the deferment of Water Charges, free prescriptions for everyone from 2010, and free public transport for 60s and over, sows that much good work has occurred.”

“But despite all of this there is much more needed to be done with the full extend of the financial mess that the Labour Government at Westminster have made of the public finances and the recession. As we seek to come out of recession it will be important for all to work together to ensure that we continue to deliver the best for the people of Northern Ireland. I would wish everyone in North Down a happy Christmas and a happy new year and hope that next year can bring peace and prosperity for all.”
